How To Get Motivated? Pay the Price!
by Peter Murphy
Everyone wants to live in a dream home, to have great
relationships, a satisfying career and to be healthy and
fit. But you need to know how to get motivated first.
Who would say no to all of that?
A lot of people do say no simply because it takes a lot of
effort to create a life others would envy.
It is far easier to just get by and enjoy the occasional
special moments than to put your heart and soul into
creating something fantastic with the possibility that it
won’t work out despite your best intentions and hard work.
And that is why people everywhere settle for less than they
deserve –– because it is the easy option.
However in the long run it may in fact be the case that the
life of mediocrity wears you down because of the sheer
boredom and the pain of unrealized dreams.
Very interesting...
A study of elderly people concluded that when people get to
the end of their lives they do not regret the mistakes they
made but instead they regret all the things they didn’t do
or try. The pain of regret is a heavy burden to carry and
it’s a high price to pay for not making the most of
everyday you have.
Paying the price of success is your choice. Once you know
what you really want the next step is to ask yourself –– am
I willing to pay the price to have this?
Sometimes the price is paid in blood, sweat and tears and
other times in the form of long hours at the office,
frustration and endless problems to solve. Only when
you can honestly say that you will pay the price of success
will you have the motivation to stick with the plan when
times are tough.
Often times the price of success is summed up by one word
–– perseverance. Or as John D. Rockefeller put it, "I do
not think there is any other quality so essential to
success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It
overcomes almost everything, even nature."
When you decide in advance to persist no matter what
obstacles stand in your way you will become unstoppable in
your determination to succeed. This becomes easier to do
once you have considered the price of success and decided
that you are willing to pay the price.
Are you willing to pay the price?
